A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
With over 65 years' in the show business, Tommy Hunt is one of the original pioneers of Rock 'n' Roll. Starting out his performing career in the late '50s as a member of the sensational Doo-Wop group, The Flamingos - popularly known for their cover of 'I Only Have Eyes For You'. Tommy later embarked on his solo career in 1960. and went on to record 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' in 1962 where the track later became popularised by Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick.
Tommy became a regular guest at The Apollo, New York and has such worked alongside many musical legends over his lifetime including Jackie Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, The Supremes, The Sherelles, Dionne Warwick, Chuck Berry, Sam & Dave but to name a few. From the 1970's Tommy Hunt became a household name within the UK Northern Soul scene, making regular live appearances at The Wigan Casino. An introduction with the well-loved Russ Winstanley saw Tommy release several singles with Spark Records. Later on in life, Tommy was recognised for his legendary status in the world of music and inducted into the 'Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame' as part of the Flamingos in 2001 as well as 'Vocal Group Hall of Fame' in 2000 and 'Doo-Wop Hall of Fame', 2001. His music career still continues to this day and well as his spark and passion for soul music.
